We Foster Relationships
We are a community church, and our doors are open to everyone. Our goal is to know and love God, to know and love people, and to bring the two together through Jesus Christ. As a result, we have a diverse membership of families, retirees, and singles of all ethnic backgrounds.
The most important things in life are relationships--our relationship with God, with our family, and with others. Jesus said the most important gift is that of love. We focus on Jesus--it is through him that we have a relationship with God. Following his teachings, we can mend and build relationships with those around us. We invite you to partner with us in reaching people both near and far.
Background of the Apostles' Creed
The Apostles' Creed describes our beliefs. The word ‘creed’ comes from the Latin word credo, meaning ‘I believe and trust’. The Apostles' Creed contains a brief summary of the teachings of the twelve apostles. It expresses the essentials of the Christian faith. The Apostles' Creed was established in the early church, is the oldest creed of the Christian church, and has been in use by churches around the world ever since. The Apostles' Creed reflects what we believe at the Idyllwild Community Church.
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy universal church,*
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
- The word “catholic” was used in the original version because it meant the universal church, not the Roman Catholic Church.
